Hi Anonymous? As always i have issues with opinions expressed in this way, but so be it, as you can see it got published nevertheless. Everyone is free to like or dislike :-)
As to what one needs to listen to, one can't really form an opinion without listening i believe. I'm certainly not forcing anything on anyone and i dislike the implication that i would. It's easy to turn it off, so go ahead.
And judging a whole CD on one track seems at least a bit harsh. I for one don't see a reason why i shouldn't like this one as much as i do the Strauss lieder.
To be honest i don't see why either choice of repertoire or interpretation comes as a surprise to anyone. Nevertheless, it also doesn't surprise me that his first full Italian album would create controversy :-)
Kenderina, it really sounds like Pappano, doesn't it? One can identify his music in a million :-) It sounds as if they were having the time of their life recording this, good for them!
This preview of the CD sounds fantastic, and I admire Kaufmann's honesty about the difficulty of recording these arias. Can't wait for the US release in September!
Wow, I really never needed to hear Kaufmann singing 'vesti...' - I will certainly pass on this one and stick to the Lieder!
